Synopsis – What to Expect from “Missionary Man”
Missionary Man is a 2007 action-thriller starring Dolph Lundgren. The movie follows Ryder (Lundgren), a former Special Forces soldier, as he returns to his hometown of New Hope, Texas, to bury his estranged father.
Ryder discovers that the town is under the control of a local crime boss, the corrupt and ruthless Sheriff Hicks (Eric Roberts). Hicks has been extorting money from the townspeople, and has been using his power to terrorize them. Ryder takes it upon himself to put a stop to Hicks’ reign of terror, and begins to assemble a team of allies to help him in his mission.
The team includes Ryder’s childhood friend, a local mechanic; an ex-convict; and a mysterious woman who has been searching for her missing brother. Together, they plan to take down Hicks and his gang of thugs.
But Hicks is one step ahead of them. He has hired a team of mercenaries to help him in his mission to rid the town of Ryder and his allies. As the battle between the two sides intensifies, Ryder and his team must use all their skills and resources to survive.
In the end, Ryder and his team are successful in defeating Hicks and his men. The town is freed from his oppressive rule, and Ryder is able to move on with his life, knowing that he has made a difference.
