Synopsis/Plot
Miss Stevens is a 2016 American drama film directed by Julia Hart and starring Lily Rabe as the titular character. The film follows Rachel Stevens, a high school English teacher who takes three of her students to a weekend drama competition. As the competition progresses, Rachel discovers that her students are dealing with personal issues that are affecting their performance. She must then find a way to help them overcome their struggles and win the competition.
The film is set in a small California town in the early 2000s. Rachel is a dedicated teacher who is passionate about her job and her students. She is also dealing with her own issues, including the recent death of her father. When her principal assigns her to take three of her students to the drama competition, she reluctantly agrees.
At the competition, Rachel discovers that her students are dealing with personal issues. The oldest student, Billy, is struggling with his sexuality and is being bullied by his peers. The youngest student, Margot, is dealing with her parents’ recent divorce. The third student, Tim, is struggling with his own mental health issues. As the competition progresses, Rachel must find a way to help her students overcome their issues and win the competition.
