Synopsis/Plot
Miss Sloane is a 2016 political thriller film starring Jessica Chastain as Elizabeth Sloane, a savvy and ambitious Washington D.C. lobbyist. The film follows Sloane as she takes on the most powerful opposing force in the country in order to push a controversial gun control bill through Congress. As she navigates the treacherous political waters of the nation’s capital, she must also face the personal and professional consequences of her actions.
The film begins with Sloane being offered a job by a powerful lobbyist to promote a bill to expand background checks for gun purchases. Despite warnings from her colleagues, she takes on the challenge and begins a ruthless campaign to get the bill passed. She uses a variety of tactics, including bribery, blackmail, and manipulation, to sway the votes of Congress. She also makes some unexpected allies, including a young intern who is passionate about the cause.
As the pressure mounts, Sloane is pushed to her limits as she attempts to outwit her opponents and get the bill passed. In the end, she must choose between her ambition and her conscience, and decide what she is willing to sacrifice in order to make a difference.
