Synopsis/Plot
Miss Potter is a 2006 biographical drama about the life of British author Beatrix Potter. The film stars Renée Zellweger as Potter, Ewan McGregor as her publisher Norman Warne, and Emily Watson as her confidante Millie Warne.
The film follows Potter’s life from her childhood, when she was discouraged from pursuing her artistic ambitions, to her eventual success as a world-renowned author and illustrator. As a young woman, Potter is determined to break out of the norms of Victorian society and gain independence. She is determined to publish her beloved stories, but faces opposition from her family and society.
Norman Warne, her publisher, takes a liking to her work and helps her break through the barriers of society. The two eventually fall in love, but their romance is cut short by Norman’s untimely death.
The film follows Potter’s journey as she finds success and independence. She eventually becomes the first woman to own land in the Lake District, and she uses her land to establish a nature reserve.
