Synopsis – What to Expect from “Midnight Lace”
Midnight Lace is a 1960 psychological thriller directed by David Miller and starring Doris Day and Rex Harrison. The movie follows the story of a young American woman, Kit Preston (Doris Day), who has recently married an English businessman, Anthony Preston (Rex Harrison).
Kit moves to London to live with her new husband, but soon after her arrival she begins to experience strange and frightening occurrences. She starts to receive mysterious phone calls in the middle of the night, and when she leaves the house she is followed by a mysterious figure. Kit is convinced that someone is out to get her, and her fears are compounded when her husband’s former lover, the beautiful and mysterious Milly (Myrna Loy), appears in town.
Meanwhile, Kit’s husband Anthony is under suspicion of murder when a woman is found dead in the park. As the investigation progresses, Kit’s fears become more real and her life becomes increasingly dangerous. With the help of her friend, the American expatriate David (John Gavin), she must unravel the mystery of the midnight calls and the identity of the killer before it is too late.
