Synopsis/Plot
Midnight in Paris is a romantic comedy-drama film written and directed by Woody Allen. It stars Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates, Adrien Brody, Carla Bruni, Marion Cotillard, and Michael Sheen.
The film follows Gil Pender, a successful Hollywood screenwriter who is visiting Paris with his fiancée Inez and her parents. Gil is a romantic who is nostalgic for the city’s past, and during his stay, he takes nightly walks alone through the streets of Paris. On one of these walks, he finds himself magically transported back to the 1920s, where he meets some of the greatest artists and writers of the time, including Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Pablo Picasso.
Through his conversations with these artists, Gil begins to realize that he is not content with his life in the present and that he is drawn to the city’s past. As he continues to visit the past, he falls in love with Adriana, a beautiful and mysterious woman from the 1920s. As his relationship with Adriana grows, he finds himself torn between his past and present, and must decide which path to take.
