Synopsis/Plot
Midnight Cowboy is a 1969 American drama film directed by John Schlesinger and written by Waldo Salt, based on the 1965 novel of the same name by James Leo Herlihy. The film stars Dustin Hoffman as Ratso Rizzo, an ailing con man, and Jon Voight as Joe Buck, a naive hustler from Texas. The film follows the unlikely pair as they try to survive on the streets of New York City.
The story begins with Joe Buck, a naive Texan who moves to New York City in search of fortune. He finds himself living in a seedy hotel and working as a male prostitute. When he meets Ratso Rizzo, a crippled con man, the two form an unlikely friendship. Ratso teaches Joe the ropes of the city and helps him find a better job.
The two men soon find themselves in a desperate situation, as Ratso’s health deteriorates and Joe’s money runs out.
