Mercy is a 2016 romantic drama film directed by Chris Sparling and starring Ellen Page, Kate Mara, and Elias Koteas. The film follows the story of Lucy (Page), a young woman who is struggling to come to terms with her past and find her place in the world.
The film opens with Lucy’s childhood memories of her abusive father. We then fast forward to present day, where Lucy is living in a small town in Maine and working as a waitress. She is still haunted by her past and is struggling to move on with her life.
One night, Lucy meets a mysterious stranger named Jude (Koteas). Jude is a drifter who has been travelling around the country, trying to find peace and solace in his life. He is immediately drawn to Lucy, and the two quickly become close.
Meanwhile, Lucy’s life is thrown into chaos when her ex-boyfriend, David (Mara), shows up in town. David is a successful lawyer who is determined to win Lucy back, but Lucy is not interested in getting back together.
Jude and Lucy’s relationship continues to grow, and the two eventually make plans to leave town together. However, before they can leave, David finds out about their plans and attempts to stop them. In a desperate attempt to keep Lucy from leaving, David reveals a shocking secret from her past.
The secret is that Lucy’s father is still alive, and he is in
