Synopsis – What to Expect from “Maze”
Maze is a 2017 psychological thriller film directed by Stephen Burke and starring Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Barry Ward and Niamh McGrady.
The film follows Tom (Vaughan-Lawlor) as he is sent to the notorious Maze prison in Northern Ireland in the early 1980s. He is part of a group of political prisoners who are subjected to harsh and inhumane conditions. Tom struggles to survive in this oppressive environment and is determined to escape. He finds a friend in another prisoner, Larry (Ward), who helps him devise a daring plan.
Tom and Larry’s plan is to dig a tunnel from their cell to the outside. They must work quickly and secretly, as the guards are constantly on the lookout for escape attempts. As they dig, they uncover a hidden secret about the prison and the government’s involvement.
The tension builds as the guards begin to suspect that something is going on. Tom and Larry must find a way to complete their escape before they are caught.
The film explores themes of resilience, hope and courage in the face of oppression. It is a thrilling and gripping story of two men’s determination to escape the Maze.
