Synopsis/Plot
Masterminds is a 2016 American heist comedy film directed by Jared Hess and written by Chris Bowman, Hubbel Palmer, and Emily Spivey. It stars Zach Galifianakis, Owen Wilson, Kristen Wiig, Jason Sudeikis, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Devin Ratray.
The film follows a night guard at an armored car company in the Southern United States who organizes one of the biggest bank heists in American history. David Ghantt (Galifianakis) discovers the true meaning of adventure far beyond his wildest dreams. He is lured into the scheme by a work crush and an absurdly faulty heist plan. Together with an eccentric crew, David manages the impossible and makes off with $17 million.
As the fumbling criminals accidentally become notorious, a media circus ensues and the authorities close in. But not everything is as it seems and David must fight to stay one step ahead of the law, the looters and even the masterminds behind the whole operation.
