Synopsis – What to Expect from “Margot at the Wedding”
Margot at the Wedding is a 2007 comedy-drama film directed by Noah Baumbach and starring Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Jack Black. The film follows the story of Margot, a successful New York-based writer who is about to attend her estranged sister Pauline’s wedding in the countryside.
At the wedding, Margot is reunited with her sister, Pauline, who is getting married to Malcolm, a struggling artist. Margot’s presence causes tension between the two sisters and their families, as Margot and Pauline’s mother, who is also attending the wedding, is not pleased with the union.
Meanwhile, Margot meets Malcolm’s son, Claude, and the two quickly become close friends. Margot also meets Malcolm’s ex-wife, Joanna, who is still in love with him and is bitter about the wedding.
As the wedding day approaches, Margot’s presence causes more tension between the families. Margot and Pauline’s mother is not happy with the union and has her doubts about Malcolm’s character. Margot herself is also unsure about the wedding and her own feelings towards her sister, causing her to question her own life choices.
On the day of the wedding, drama ensues as Margot’s presence causes more tension between the families. In the end, the wedding goes ahead and Margot and Pauline reconcile. After the wedding, Margot and Claude’s friendship continues to grow
