Synopsis – What to Expect from “Maps to the Stars”
Maps to the Stars is a darkly comic look at Hollywood and its denizens, directed by David Cronenberg and starring Julianne Moore, Mia Wasikowska, John Cusack, Robert Pattinson, and Olivia Williams.
The movie follows the Weiss family, a dysfunctional Hollywood dynasty. Havana (Moore) is an aging actress desperately trying to make a comeback. Her brother, the child star Benjie (Evan Bird) is a spoiled, drug-addicted brat. Their father, Dr. Stafford Weiss (Cusack) is a self-help guru who caters to the rich and famous.
Meanwhile, Agatha (Wasikowska) is a mysterious young woman who arrives in town with a troubled past. She quickly finds work as a personal assistant to Havana, and soon begins to unravel the dark secrets of the Weiss family.
As Agatha digs deeper, she discovers that the Weiss family has been haunted by a series of tragic events, and that their lives are intertwined with a mysterious and powerful figure from the past. As she gets closer to the truth, Agatha finds herself in danger, and must fight to protect those she has come to care about.
The movie is a complex and thrilling journey into the dark side of Hollywood, where ambition and fame come with a price. With its blend of dark humour and suspense, Maps to the Stars is an unforgettable look at the dark side of fame.
