Synopsis – What to Expect from “Manny”
Manny is a heartfelt and inspiring film about a young man’s journey to find his place in the world.
The film follows Manny (Douglas Smith), a high school senior who has been struggling to find his purpose in life. He has been told he is too smart for his own good and is constantly questioning his future. Manny’s parents, who are both successful professionals, are pushing him to pursue a career in medicine, but Manny is not sure if that is the right path for him.
One day, Manny meets an old man named Mr. Stevens (Danny Glover) who lives in the same apartment building as him. Mr. Stevens is a former professional boxer and he takes Manny under his wing, teaching him the art of boxing. Manny is initially hesitant but eventually starts to find a passion in the sport. He begins to train with Mr. Stevens and discovers that boxing is the perfect outlet for his frustrations.
Manny’s newfound passion for boxing gives him newfound confidence and strength. He begins to excel in the sport and starts to gain recognition. He even catches the attention of a local boxing promoter who wants to set up a match for Manny. Despite his parents’ disapproval, Manny decides to pursue his dreams and compete in the match.
Manny’s match is a success and he is offered a professional boxing contract. However, Manny discovers that boxing is not the only thing he is passionate about. He begins to explore his creative side
