Synopsis – What to Expect from “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom”
Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom is a biographical drama that chronicles the life of South African leader Nelson Mandela. The movie begins in the 1940s, when Mandela (Idris Elba) is a young man living in a small village in South Africa. He is a lawyer and a passionate advocate for equality, but faces discrimination and oppression from the white-ruled government.
Despite the injustice, Mandela is determined to fight for the rights of his people. He joins the African National Congress and leads a campaign of peaceful protests against the government. His efforts are met with violence, and he is arrested and sentenced to life in prison.
In prison, Mandela continues to fight for his people, and eventually his struggle earns him international recognition. After 27 years in prison, he is released and continues his fight for equality and justice. He is elected president of South Africa in 1994, and leads the country in its transition to democracy.
The movie follows Mandela’s struggle to bring peace and reconciliation to South Africa, and his efforts to establish a new nation based on equality. Along the way, Mandela’s personal relationships with his family and friends are explored, as well as his relationships with other South African leaders.
The movie culminates with Mandela’s death in 2013, and his legacy of freedom and justice. The film shows how one man’s courage and determination can inspire a nation and change the world.
