Synopsis – What to Expect from “Make the Yuletide Gay”
Make the Yuletide Gay is a 2009 romantic comedy film directed by Rob Williams.
The story follows a young college student, Oliver (Keith Jordan), who is struggling to come out of the closet to his conservative family. He is invited to spend the holiday season with his family, but he is afraid to tell them that he is gay. With the help of his best friend, Natalie (Alicia Minshew), Oliver decides to go home for the holidays and bring his boyfriend, Matt (Matthew Wilkas), along with him.
When Oliver and Matt arrive, they are welcomed by Oliver’s parents, who are unaware of their relationship. Oliver’s mother, Joan (Marian Seldes), is very traditional and does not approve of Oliver’s lifestyle. His father, Frank (Larry Pine), is more accepting, but is still concerned about his son’s future.
Meanwhile, Oliver and Matt must navigate the uncomfortable situation of being in a relationship while trying to keep it a secret from Oliver’s family. As Oliver and Matt get to know each other better, they discover a mutual love of Christmas music and singing. With the help of Natalie, they come up with a plan to stage a Christmas musical in order to come out to Oliver’s family.
