Synopsis – What to Expect from “Major Dundee”
Major Dundee is a 1965 western film directed by Sam Peckinpah and starring Charlton Heston, Richard Harris, Jim Hutton, and Senta Berger. The story follows Union Army Major Amos Dundee (Heston) who is tasked with leading a group of misfit soldiers on a mission to capture a group of Apache Indians who have been attacking settlers in the Southwest.
The mission is a difficult one, as Dundee’s men are a motley crew of deserters, criminals, and drunks. Dundee’s mission is made even more difficult by the fact that he is in command of a Confederate officer, Captain Tyreen (Harris), who is a bitter enemy of the Union. Despite their differences, the two men must work together if they are to succeed in their mission.
As they travel through the rugged terrain of the Southwest, Dundee and his men face many dangers and obstacles, including a fierce Apache tribe, a band of Mexican bandits, and a mysterious figure known only as “The Wolf”. Along the way, Dundee must also come to terms with his own inner demons, as he is haunted by memories of his past and his own personal failures.
