Synopsis – What to Expect from “Madeline”
Madeline is a 1998 film based on the popular children’s books by Ludwig Bemelmans. The movie follows the adventures of Madeline, an orphaned girl living in a Catholic boarding school in Paris, France.
The movie begins with Madeline and her friends playing in the garden of the school, when they are interrupted by the arrival of Lord Covington, who has come to buy the school and turn it into a hotel. Madeline and her friends are terrified of the change, and Madeline takes it upon herself to save the school.
She enlists the help of her teacher Miss Clavel, and the two of them set out to find a way to save the school. They enlist the help of a local baron, who agrees to buy the school and keep it as a school.
Meanwhile, Madeline and her friends are also dealing with the arrival of a new student, Pepito, who is the son of Lord Covington. Pepito is spoiled and rude, and Madeline and her friends must find a way to get along with him.
Eventually, Madeline and her friends are able to get along with Pepito, and the two of them even become friends. They also manage to save the school from being sold to Lord Covington.
The movie ends with Madeline and her friends enjoying a picnic in the garden of the school, and Miss Clavel telling them that they are all family.
