Synopsis/Plot
Ma is a 2019 American psychological horror film directed by Tate Taylor and written by Scotty Landes. The film stars Octavia Spencer as Sue Ann, a lonely woman who befriends a group of teenagers and allows them to party in her basement. However, as the teens begin to push the boundaries of acceptable behavior, Sue Ann’s hospitality soon turns to obsession, and her parental instincts give way to a darker side.
The film follows Sue Ann, a middle-aged woman living in a small Ohio town. She works as a veterinarian’s assistant and leads a solitary life. One day, a group of teenagers, Maggie, Haley, Andy, Chaz, and Darrell, arrive in town. Maggie, the group’s leader, is looking for a place to buy alcohol for her friends. Sue Ann offers to buy it for them and allows them to party in her basement.
The teens quickly become enamored with Sue Ann and her hospitality. She allows them to use her house as a party spot, even providing them with snacks and drinks. But as the teens begin to push the boundaries of acceptable behavior, Sue Ann’s hospitality soon turns to obsession. She begins to impose strict rules on the teens, and her parental instincts
