Synopsis/Plot
Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is a 1975 animated musical comedy film based on the children’s book series of the same name by Bernard Waber. The film follows the adventures of Lyle, a friendly and helpful crocodile who lives in an apartment building in New York City with his family. Lyle often finds himself at odds with the building’s owner, Mr. Grumps, who is determined to get rid of Lyle and his family.
When Mr. Grumps’ attempts to get rid of Lyle fail, he decides to enlist the help of the neighborhood children, who are fascinated by Lyle and his antics. With the help of the children, Lyle and his family are able to outsmart MrGrumps and remain in the apartment building. The film also features several original songs, including “Lyle the Crocodile”, “The Big Apple”, and “Lyle’s Song”. The film was a success, and it spawned a sequel, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile: The Musical, which was released in 1979.
