Synopsis – What to Expect from “Loving”
Loving is a 2016 American biographical romantic drama film directed by Jeff Nichols and written by Nichols and Loving v. They also face discrimination from their neighbors.
In 1963, the couple decides to challenge the law in the courts. They hire an inexperienced lawyer, Bernie Cohen, to represent them. Cohen works with the American Civil Liberties Union to file a motion in the Virginia Supreme Court. The motion is denied, but the couple decides to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court hears the case in 1967 and rules in favor of the Lovings. The decision declares that Virginia’s anti-miscegenation laws are unconstitutional. The Lovings are finally allowed to return to Virginia and live together as a married couple.
The film ends with the Lovings living peacefully in Caroline County, Virginia. The film celebrates the courage of the Lovings and the power of the Supreme Court decision to
