Synopsis/Plot
Lovelace is a 2013 biographical drama about Linda Lovelace, the star of the 1972 pornographic film Deep Throat. The film follows Linda’s story from her childhood in an oppressive and religious family, to her rise to fame as the first pornographic actress.
The story begins with Linda’s early years, as she is raised by a strict and oppressive father who does not allow her to express herself. We then see Linda’s transformation into an adult, as she meets and marries Chuck Traynor, a manipulative and abusive man who introduces her to the world of pornography. Chuck forces Linda to take part in the adult film Deep Throat, where she quickly becomes an overnight sensation.
The film follows Linda’s journey as she attempts to break free from Chuck’s control and reclaim her life. With the help of a feminist lawyer, Linda begins to fight back against the exploitation she faced in the porn industry. The film culminates in Linda’s triumphant victory over her oppressors, as she reclaims her life and her identity.
