Synopsis/Plot
Lord of War is an action-packed crime drama that follows the life of Yuri Orlov, an ambitious Ukrainian immigrant living in New York City. After witnessing the death of his father at the hands of the Russian mob, Yuri decides to become a gunrunner, selling weapons to anyone who will buy them. He quickly establishes himself as a successful arms dealer, becoming one of the most powerful men in the international weapons trade.
Yuri’s success comes at a great cost, however, as he finds himself caught up in a dangerous web of crime and corruption. He is pursued by Interpol, the FBI, and a rival arms dealer, while at the same time struggling to maintain his relationship with his wife and son.
The movie follows Yuri’s journey as he attempts to stay one step ahead of the law while still trying to make a living. Along the way, he must make difficult choices about his business and personal life, all while facing the moral dilemma of whether or not he should continue selling weapons to brutal dictators and warlords.
The movie stars Nicolas Cage as Yuri Orlov, with Ethan Hawke, Jared Leto, Bridget Moynahan, Ian Holm, and Jean Reno in supporting roles.
