Synopsis/Plot
Logan’s Run is a 1976 science fiction film directed by Michael Anderson and starring Michael York, Jenny Agutter, Richard Jordan, Roscoe Lee Browne, Farrah Fawcett and Peter Ustinov. The film is based on the 1967 novel of the same name by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson.
The story is set in the year 2274, in a post-apocalyptic world where the population is kept under control by a computer-controlled society. All citizens are required to report to the government at the age of 30 for a ritual called “Carrousel” in which they are “renewed” and sent to a paradise-like place called “Sanctuary”. Those who try to escape Carrousel are known as “Runners” and are hunted down by robotic police officers called “Sandmen”.
Logan 5 (Michael York) is a Sandman who is assigned to track down Runners and bring them back to Carrousel. When he discovers a secret underground movement of Runners, Logan decides to join them and escape the oppressive society he has been living in.
