Synopsis – What to Expect from “Locke”
Locke is a 2014 British-American drama film written and directed by Steven Knight. The film stars Tom Hardy as Ivan Locke, a successful construction manager whose life is thrown into chaos when he receives a phone call from a former lover on the eve of the biggest job of his career.
The film takes place over the course of one night and follows Locke as he drives from Birmingham to London while taking a series of calls on his car phone. He is forced to confront the consequences of his past actions and make difficult decisions about his future.
The film begins with Locke (Tom Hardy) driving from Birmingham to London. He is on the phone with his boss, Gareth (Ben Daniels), who is angry that Locke is leaving the job site to drive to London. Locke insists that he must go and Gareth reluctantly agrees.
As Locke drives, he receives a call from Bethan (Olivia Colman), a former lover who is pregnant with his child. Locke is shocked and struggles to come to terms with the news. He is determined to do the right thing and take responsibility for the child, but his plans are complicated by the fact that he is already married and has two sons.
Throughout the night, Locke is on the phone with a variety of people, including his wife Katrina (Ruth Wilson), his sons Edward (Bill Milner) and Sean (Sam Reid), Gareth, and Bethan. He attempts to juggle his responsibilities
