Synopsis – What to Expect from “Little Big Man”
Little Big Man is a 1970 American western-comedy-drama film directed by Arthur Penn and starring Dustin Hoffman, Chief Dan George, and Faye Dunaway.
The film follows the story of Jack Crabb, a 121-year-old man who has been adopted by the Cheyenne Indians. Jack is the sole survivor of a massacre that took place when he was a child, and he has been living with the Cheyenne ever since.
The film follows Jack’s adventures as he moves between the white and Native American worlds. He is taken in by a white family and learns to speak, read, and write English. He then joins a wagon train heading west, where he meets a young woman named Caroline and falls in love.
Meanwhile, Jack is captured by the US Cavalry and forced to fight in the Indian Wars. He is eventually released and returns to the Cheyenne, where he is reunited with his adopted family.
Jack eventually marries Caroline and they have a son, whom he names Little Big Man. He also becomes a leader of the Cheyenne, helping them to survive in the face of the encroaching white settlers.
The film follows Jack’s struggles as he tries to balance his loyalty to both the Cheyenne and the white settlers. In the end, Jack is able to bridge the gap between the two worlds and bring peace to the region.
