Synopsis/Plot
Lion is a 2016 biographical drama film directed by Garth Davis and written by Luke Davies. It is based on the non-fiction book A Long Way Home by Saroo Brierley, with Brierley serving as an executive producer. The film stars Dev Patel, Rooney Mara, David Wenham, and Nicole Kidman.
The film tells the story of Saroo Brierley, a young Indian boy who, after a wrong train takes him thousands of miles across India away from home and family, survives many challenges before being adopted by an Australian couple. Twenty-five years later, armed with only a handful of memories, his unwavering determination, and a revolutionary technology known as Google Earth, he sets out to find his lost family and finally return to his first home.
The film follows Saroo’s journey from a five-year-old boy in India to a twenty-five-year-old man in Australia, and his search for his long-lost family. Along the way, he experiences the harsh realities of poverty, homelessness, and exploitation, as well as the kindness and generosity of strangers.
The film is a heart-warming and inspiring story of hope, courage, and resilience
