Synopsis – What to Expect from “Lifted”
Lifted is a 2006 American comedy-drama film directed by Lexi Alexander and starring Nick Cannon, Irma P. Hall, and Ryan Stiles.
The movie follows the story of a young African-American teenager named Calvin (Nick Cannon) who is struggling to make ends meet in a poor, inner-city neighborhood. He has dreams of becoming a professional basketball player, but his father, a former basketball star, is struggling with a drug addiction. When Calvin’s father is arrested and sent to prison, Calvin is left to fend for himself.
In an effort to make money, Calvin takes a job with a local car repossession agency. He quickly learns the ropes and begins to excel at the job. However, Calvin’s newfound success soon puts him in the crosshairs of a dangerous gang leader.
Meanwhile, Calvin meets a young woman named Maria (Irma P. Hall) who works at a local diner. The two become close friends and eventually fall in love. Maria is a strong influence in Calvin’s life, encouraging him to pursue his dreams and stay away from the dangerous gang.
The movie follows Calvin as he navigates the dangerous world of car repossession, struggles to make ends meet, and ultimately finds the courage to pursue his dreams. Along the way, he learns important lessons about friendship, loyalty, and following his heart.
