Synopsis – What to Expect from “Life After People”
Life After People is a 2008 documentary film produced by the History Channel. It follows the events that would occur if all of humanity suddenly disappeared.
The film begins with a look at the effects of human absence on the environment. The planet quickly begins to recover from centuries of human pollution and destruction. Plants and animals return to areas previously inhabited by humans. The structures that humans built are slowly reclaimed by nature.
The film then looks at the effects of human absence on major cities. Without humans to maintain them, skyscrapers collapse and bridges crumble. The roads become overgrown with vegetation and the subway tunnels are flooded.
