Synopsis – What to Expect from “Liberal Arts”
Liberal Arts is a romantic comedy-drama set in the picturesque campus of a small liberal arts college. The film follows the story of Jesse, a 35-year-old recent college graduate who returns to his alma mater for a professor’s retirement party. While there, he meets Zibby, an inquisitive and precocious 19-year-old student. Jesse and Zibby develop a strong connection, and Jesse begins to question his life choices.
As their relationship blossoms, Jesse learns more about himself and what he truly wants out of life. He begins to reevaluate his career, his relationships, and his overall outlook on life. Meanwhile, Zibby is trying to figure out what she wants out of life and how to balance her own desires with those of her family.
The film follows Jesse and Zibby as they explore their feelings for one another, grow and learn from each other, and ultimately decide what they want from life. Along the way, they are joined by a cast of colorful characters, including Zibby’s eccentric professor, Jesse’s old college roommate, and Zibby’s overbearing parents.
At its core, Liberal Arts is a story of self-discovery, of learning to take risks and follow your heart. It is a heartwarming and funny look at life, love, and growing up.
