Synopsis/Plot
Liar Liar is a 1997 American comedy film starring Jim Carrey as Fletcher Reede, a fast-talking lawyer who, due to his constant lying, has strained relationships with his son Max (Justin Cooper) and ex-wife Audrey (Maura Tierney). When Max makes a birthday wish for his father to stop lying for 24 hours, Fletcher finds himself suddenly unable to do so. Fletcher must then scramble to keep his career and relationships intact as he attempts to navigate a day without telling a single lie.
The film also stars Jason Bernard as Judge Marshall Stevens, Jennifer Tilly as Samantha Cole, Swoosie Kurtz as Greta, and Cary Elwes as Jerry. The film was directed by Tom ShadyThe film follows Fletcher’s attempts to keep his career and relationships intact as he attempts to navigate a day without telling a single lie. He is forced to be honest with his son, his ex-wife, his clients, and the judge in his court case. As the day progresses, Fletcher finds himself in a series of increasingly difficult situations, as his inability to lie causes his life to spiral out of control. He is ultimately able to mend his relationships with his son and ex-wife, and he wins his court case. In the end, Fletcher learns the importance of telling the truth and is able to restore his relationships and his career.
