Synopsis/Plot
Legendary is a 2010 sports drama film directed by Mel Damski and starring Patricia Clarkson, Devon Graye, John Cena, Danny Glover, and Madeleine Martin.
The film follows Cal Chetley (Devon Graye), a high school wrestler who dreams of becoming a champion. His father, Mike (John Cena), is a former wrestler who has since become an alcoholic and is unable to provide any support for his son. When Cal’s wrestling coach, Ben (Danny Glover), is forced to retire due to health issues, Cal is left without a mentor.
Desperate to prove himself, Cal turns to the guidance of his estranged older brother, Mikey (Madeleine Martin). Mikey, a former college wrestler, is now a washed-up alcoholic who is struggling to stay sober. Despite his own struggles, Mikey takes Cal under his wing and helps him prepare for the upcoming state championships.
With Mikey’s help, Cal begins to excel in the sport and soon finds himself on the brink of becoming a state champion. However, his success is threatened by the reappearance of his father, who is determined to make amends with his sons and reclaim his place in their lives.
