Synopsis/Plot
Layer Cake is a 2004 British crime thriller film directed by Matthew Vaughn and starring Daniel Craig. The film follows a middle-aged London cocaine dealer, known as “XXXX” (Craig), who is trying to retire from the criminal underworld. The film is set in the London underworld of organized crime and features a large ensemble cast of British actors.
The film follows XXXX as he is pulled into a complex and dangerous drug deal that could make him a lot of money if he can pull it off. XXXX finds himself caught between two rival gangs, the Geordie gangsters and the London mobsters, while trying to keep his own hands clean. As he navigates the criminal underworld, XXXX discovers that the drug deal is far more complicated than he initially thought, and he soon finds himself in over his head.
The film is filled with intense action sequences that showcase the chaotic and violent nature of the criminal underworld. The film also features a strong cast of supporting characters, including a tough-as-nails female gangster, a ruthless drug kingpin, and a mysterious and powerful figure from XXXX’s past.
