Synopsis – What to Expect from “Last Dance”
Last Dance is a 1996 drama film directed by Bruce Beresford and starring Sharon Stone, Rob Morrow, and Randy Quaid.
The story follows Cindy Liggett (Sharon Stone), a woman who is sentenced to death row for a double homicide she committed in self-defense. On the day of her execution, Cindy is granted a stay of execution and is given one last chance to prove her innocence. She is granted a temporary reprieve to spend her last few days with her estranged daughter, Emily (Rob Morrow).
Cindy and Emily spend the last few days bonding and trying to make up for lost time. Emily is initially hostile towards her mother, but slowly begins to open up and understand her. Through their conversations, Emily learns the truth about her mother’s past and the events leading up to the double homicide.
Meanwhile, Cindy’s lawyer, David (Randy Quaid), is desperately trying to find evidence to prove her innocence. As the days pass, Cindy and Emily grow closer and Cindy begins to accept her fate. On the day of her execution, Cindy is granted a last minute reprieve and is freed from death row.
Cindy and Emily are finally able to move on with their lives and Emily finds the strength to forgive her mother. Last Dance is a powerful story of redemption and forgiveness, and a reminder that hope can be found in the darkest of places.
