Synopsis – What to Expect from “Lassie”
Lassie is a heartwarming family drama about the bond between a young boy and his beloved dog. The story begins in Scotland, where young Joe Carraclough (Jonathan Mason) and his family have recently moved from the city. Joe is lonely and struggling to adjust to his new home, but his life changes when he meets Lassie, a beautiful collie.
Joe and Lassie quickly form an unbreakable bond and become inseparable. Together, they explore the countryside, with Joe teaching Lassie all sorts of tricks. But their idyllic life is threatened when Joe’s father, Sam (John Lynch), decides to sell Lassie to the Duke of Rudling (Peter O’Toole) for financial gain.
Joe is devastated and sets out to save his beloved pet. With the help of his grandmother (Samantha Morton), Joe embarks on a daring journey to reunite with Lassie. Along the way, Joe encounters a variety of characters, including a kindly farmer (John Nettles) and a troublesome poacher (John Hurt).
Ultimately, Joe’s courage and determination are rewarded when he and Lassie are reunited. Together, they return home to a hero’s welcome. The film ends with Joe and Lassie looking forward to a bright future together.
