Synopsis – What to Expect from “King Ralph”
King Ralph is a comedy about a bumbling, good-hearted man who unexpectedly inherits the throne of England.
The story begins with the death of King Charles, the last of the English monarchy. With no living heirs to the throne, the British government is forced to look elsewhere for a new monarch. After a lengthy search, they find an unlikely candidate in Ralph Jones (John Goodman), a simple American who happens to be an exact genetic match to the late King Charles.
Ralph is then brought to England and quickly thrust into the role of King. Despite his best efforts, he struggles to fit in with the royal family and court. He is constantly ridiculed and mocked for his lack of knowledge and experience in the ways of the monarchy.
The court is also skeptical of Ralph’s ability to rule, and is determined to prove that he is not fit to be King. They plot to have him removed from the throne, and begin to hatch a plan to overthrow him.
Ralph, however, is determined to prove himself to the court and to the people of England. With the help of his loyal assistant, he embarks on a series of adventures and misadventures in an attempt to show the court that he is capable of ruling.
Throughout his journey, Ralph learns to accept himself and to take pride in his newfound role as King. In the end, he is able to win over the court and the people of England,
