Synopsis – What to Expect from “King of New York”

King of New York is a 1990 crime drama film directed by Abel Ferrara and starring Christopher Walken, David Caruso, and Laurence Fishburne. The film follows the story of Frank White (Walken), a notorious drug lord who is released from prison after serving a lengthy sentence.

Upon his release, White decides to take back control of the drug trade in New York City, and reclaim his throne as the ‘King of New York’. White assembles a team of loyal criminals to help him in his mission, and sets out to take on the drug gangs of the city. As White’s power grows, he finds himself in conflict with the police, led by Detective Jimmy Jump (Caruso). Meanwhile, a rival drug lord, Jimmy Jump’s brother, is also looking to take control of the city.

White’s ambition and ruthlessness soon make him the most powerful drug lord in the city, but his criminal activities also draw the attention of the federal government. With the police and the feds closing in, White must use all of his cunning and influence to stay one step ahead of them. In the end, White must decide whether to use his power to help the people of the city, or to continue his criminal activities and remain the ‘King of New York’.
