Synopsis – What to Expect from “Jury Duty”
Jury Duty is a 1995 American comedy film directed by John Fortenberry and starring Pauly Shore, Tia Carrere, Stanley Tucci, and Talia Shire.
The film follows the misadventures of slacker Tommy Collins (Shore) who is called for jury duty in Los Angeles. His attempts to evade the responsibility fail, and he is forced to serve, much to his dismay. On the first day of jury selection, Tommy meets the other prospective jurors, including an eccentric millionaire (Tucci), a single mother (Carrere) and a self-righteous homemaker (Shire).
The trial is for a mobster accused of murder, and Tommy quickly finds himself in the middle of a courtroom drama. He clashes with the judge, the prosecutor, and the other jurors, and is determined to make sure the accused gets justice. As the trial progresses, Tommy is forced to confront his own prejudices and preconceptions, and he learns that justice is not always as simple as it seems.
In the end, Tommy and the other jurors must decide the fate of the accused. With the help of his newfound friends, Tommy finds the courage to make the right decision, and ultimately finds redemption in the process.
