Synopsis/Plot
Jane Got a Gun is a 2016 American action-drama western film directed by Gavin O’Connor and written by Brian Duffield, Joel Edgerton, and Anthony Tambakis. The film stars Natalie Portman as Jane Hammond, a woman who must ask her ex-lover for help in order to save her outlaw husband from a gang out to kill him.
The film opens in 1871 in New Mexico, where Jane Hammond (Natalie Portman) and her husband Bill (Noah Emmerich) live a peaceful life on a ranch with their young daughter. However, their bliss is shattered when a gang of outlaws led by the vicious Bishop (Ewan McGregor) come to their home and shoot Bill. Jane manages to escape with her daughter and takes Bill to safety, but he is severely wounded.
Desperate for help, Jane turns to her former lover Dan Frost (Joel Edgerton) for assistance. Frost reluctantly agrees to help her, and together they devise a plan to protect the ranch from Bishop and his gang. Jane and Frost arm themselves and begin to train, but they soon discover that Bishop has a much larger and more dangerous force than they had anticipated.
