Synopsis/Plot
James and the Giant Peach is a 1996 musical fantasy film directed by Henry Selick and based on the 1961 novel of the same name by Roald Dahl. The film tells the story of James Henry Trotter, a young orphan who lives with his two cruel aunts in a bleak and barren house in the English countryside. After accidentally spilling some magical crystals given to him by a mysterious old man, James finds himself on a wild and magical journey inside a giant peach, accompanied by a rag-tag group of anthropomorphic garden bugs. Together, they must outwit the menacing rhinoceros and the other obstacles they encounter on their way to the Empire State Building in New York City. Along the way, James learns valuable lessons about friendship, courage, and the power of imagination. The film features the voices of Richard Dreyfuss, Susan Sarandon, Simon Callow, Jane Leeves, and David Thewlis, among others.
