Synopsis/Plot
Jackie Brown is a 1997 crime film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, and starring Pam Grier in the title role. The film is an adaptation of the novel Rum Punch by Elmore Leonard.
Set in Los Angeles, the story follows Jackie Brown, an aging flight attendant who is caught smuggling money for a gunrunner named Ordell Robbie. Ordell has Jackie arrested, but secretly offers her a deal: if she can smuggle a large amount of cash into the country for him, he will let her go. She agrees, but also hatches a plan to keep the money for herself.
Jackie enlists the help of a bail bondsman, Max Cherry, and a former cellmate, Louis Gara, to help her execute her plan. As she works to outsmart Ordell and the police, she finds herself in a precarious situation, as she is pursued by both the law and Ordell’s henchmen.
Jackie Brown is a tense and thrilling crime drama that explores themes of loyalty, morality, and trust. With its clever plot and strong performances, the film is a classic of the genre, and is considered one of Tarantino’s best works.
