Synopsis/Plot
Jabberwocky is a 1977 British fantasy comedy film directed by Terry Gilliam and starring Michael Palin. The film is based on the poem of the same name by Lewis Carroll, and tells the story of a peasant named Dennis Cooper who, after his father’s death, is forced to take over his father’s job as a cooper in a small, medieval town. Dennis is a clumsy oaf, and his clumsy nature gets him into a lot of trouble with the townspeople.
The town is terrorized by a legendary monster called the Jabberwock, and the townspeople have put a bounty on its head. Dennis, desperate for money, decides to take up the challenge and sets off on a quest to kill the Jabberwock. Along the way, he encounters a variety of strange characters, including a talking tree, a giant, and a knight.
Dennis eventually succeeds in killing the Jabberwock, and is rewarded with a large sum of money. However, the townspeople are not happy with the result, and they accuse Dennis of witchcraft. Dennis must then defend himself against the false accusations, and eventually manages to prove his innocence.
