Synopsis – What to Expect from “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”
It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is a 1966 animated television special based on the comic strip Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz. The special follows the Peanuts gang as they prepare for Halloween.
The story begins with Linus and Sally eagerly anticipating the arrival of the mythical Great Pumpkin. While everyone else is out trick-or-treating, Linus decides to wait in the pumpkin patch in the hopes that the Great Pumpkin will appear and grant him a miracle.
Meanwhile, Charlie Brown is determined to get a decent Halloween costume, but his efforts are hampered by his lack of money. He eventually settles for a ghost costume made out of a sheet.
The rest of the Peanuts gang is out having a great time trick-or-treating, but Charlie Brown is constantly getting tricked and humiliated. He eventually finds himself in an empty house, where he is scared by a witch.
The next morning, Linus is still waiting for the Great Pumpkin, but is eventually convinced by Sally to go home. As the Peanuts gang gathers to go trick-or-treating, Linus stays behind, determined to wait for the Great Pumpkin.
As the night progresses, the gang has a great time at the Halloween party, while Linus is left alone in the pumpkin patch. Eventually, Linus falls asleep, and wakes up to find that the Great Pumpkin never came.
