Synopsis/Plot
It’s Complicated is a 2009 romantic comedy starring Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, and Steve Martin. The film follows Jane Adler, a divorced mother of three, as she navigates the complicated waters of middle-aged romance. When her ex-husband, Jake, re-enters her life with a proposal of remarriage, Jane finds herself torn between her feelings for him and her newfound relationship with her architect, Adam.
The film begins with Jane’s children, who are all grown up and living their own lives, as she celebrates her 50th birthday. As the film progresses, the audience is taken on a journey of Jane’s romantic life as she juggles both Jake and Adam. Jane’s relationship with Jake is complicated by his current marriage, and her relationship with Adam is complicated by her still-lingering feelings for Jake.
Meanwhile, Jane also has to deal with the problems of her children, who are facing their own issues with relationships and work. As the film progresses, Jane must learn to balance her own needs with the needs of her children, and come to terms with her feelings for both Jake and Adam.
