Synopsis/Plot

It is a 2017 American supernatural horror film directed by Andy Muschietti and based on the 1986 novel of the same name by Stephen King. The film follows seven children in Derry, Maine, who are terrorized by the eponymous being, which exploits the fears and phobias of its victims in order to disguise itself while hunting its prey. The film stars Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Sophia Lillis, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jeremy Ray Taylor, and Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, a shapeshifting creature that preys upon the children of Derry.

The film opens with a flashback to 1989, whenthe Losers Club—a group of outcast children consisting of Bill Denbrough (Jaeden Lieberher), Richie Tozier (Finn Wolfhard), Eddie Kaspbrak (Jack Dylan Grazer), Stan Uris (Wyatt Oleff), Ben Hanscom (Jeremy Ray Taylor), Beverly Marsh (Sophia Lillis), and Mike Hanlon (Chosen Jacobs)—encounter a shapeshifting creature that identifies itself as “Pennywise the Dancing Clown” (Bill Skarsgård). The creature, which preys upon the children of Derry, Maine, every 27 years, has been dormant for centuries, but awakens when the Losers Club confront it. After a series of terrifying encounters with Pennywise, the Losers Club vow to return to Derry as adults to defeat the creature once and for all.

The film then cuts to the present day, where the Losers Club have all grown up and moved away from Derry. However, they are all soon drawn back to the town when Pennywise resurfaces and begins terrorizing the children of Derry once again. With the help of their childhood memories and the courage to confront their fears
