Synopsis – What to Expect from “It Must Be Heaven”

It Must Be Heaven is a 2019 French-Palestinian comedy-drama written, directed and produced by Elia Suleiman.

The movie follows Suleiman, a Palestinian filmmaker, as he travels from his home in Nazareth to Paris, New York, and Istanbul. Throughout his journey, Suleiman encounters a variety of characters, from a French policeman to a New York artist, all of whom offer him a unique perspective on the world.

The film opens in Nazareth, where Suleiman is trying to shoot a scene for a movie he is making. He is interrupted by a group of young boys playing soccer in the street. Suleiman is then approached by a French policeman, who tells him that he can’t shoot his movie in the city. Suleiman then decides to leave Nazareth and go to Paris.

In Paris, Suleiman meets an artist who is trying to make a living by selling his paintings on the street. The artist tells Suleiman about the struggles he faces in life and how he is trying to make a better life for himself. Suleiman is moved by the artist’s story and gives him some money.
