We have come a long way from buying software discs (CDs/ DVDs) to downloading software online within a relatively short interval of time.
While buying a software disc you can either visit a store or buy online and wait for the disc to be delivered. The advantage of buying a disc is, as long as the vendor is legit you can be sure of the software’s authenticity.
You can check the disc’s physical packaging as well as validate its key online to be completely sure.
However, the disadvantages of purchasing a physical copy tower over its advantages. A physical disc is more susceptible to damage and would cost you more than an online copy.
Also, buying software products online is much more environmentally friendly and you can procure a copy right away from your workstation. You just need to be sure of the product’s authenticity and the website from where you are buying the product.
One wrong click and your data and workspace’s safety can be compromised.
Nowadays almost every software provider allows users to download their software from their website and Movavi is one of them.
In this post, we would try to try the answer the question, “Is Movavi safe?” Can we trust the software provider while downloading their product?
Let’s find out how secure is Movavi and what kind of user data they store.
Is Movavi trustworthy? What do we know about Movavi?

Movavi was established in 2004 and offers software that lets users edit, enhance and be creative with videos, audio, and image editing. You can download any of the Movavi software on your local machine or your Android or iOS devices.
Since its inception, Movavi has flourished into a team of over 400 employees providing software products to more than 3 million customers across 200 countries.

To make this possible their multimedia products come with different capabilities and procurement options. And they did ace in this venture. Movavi Video Suite, Editor, and Slideshow maker received great reviews from their users and bagged accolades from reputed online publications like Techradar and Softonic.

Movavi as a software provider is trustworthy and focuses equally on the quality of their software product and maintaining a healthy customer relationship.
Is Movavi safe to download?
Movavi develops different multimedia software products. To download any software, you have to first visit their website and download a trial copy.
If the Movavi website contains any malicious script there are chances of your machine being infected the moment you navigate to their webpage. So first let’s figure out how reliable their website is.
To test their website authenticity I scanned their landing page using VirusTotal. Virustotal is a website that crawls through a vendor web page and provides you details regarding any suspicious scripts or malicious programs that can be threatful to your device.

When VirusTotal scanned the Movavi website, it made a few API calls to check the various scripts running in the background. After thoroughly scanning the API responses all Movavi components turned out to be clean and devoid of any malicious content.

This proves that the Movavi website as a platform doesn’t harbor any malicious code that can cause any security or data safety issue for any of its users.
Is the Movavi video converter and other executables safe?
Ok. Visiting the Movavi website might be safe, but how safe are the executables that hundreds of users are downloading every day?
To clear this doubt I downloaded Movavi video converter from their website on a Windows machine.

For the sake of this research, I downloaded the trial version of Movavi Video Converter and scanned the executable.
The downloaded executable was roughly 46 MB. I uploaded the executable on VirusTotal and it performed a hash check to figure out if there were any tampering done to the software executable.
Hash check programmatically generates a hash value of a file and then compares it with the hash value provided by the developers. If both values match then we can consider the software to be safe.
If the hash value is different that means the executable has been tampered with and is most likely to contain malicious code.

The hash check of the Movavi video converter was a success and no illicit behavior was detected in the code.
This proves that both the Movavi website and software are legit and safe.
