Synopsis – What to Expect from “Into the Forest”
Into the Forest is a 2016 Canadian-American post-apocalyptic drama film directed by Patricia Rozema, based on the novel of the same name by Jean Hegland. The film stars Ellen Page and Evan Rachel Wood as two sisters living in a remote area of the Pacific Northwest who must struggle to survive after a massive continent-wide power outage.
The film opens with sisters Nell (Ellen Page) and Eva (Evan Rachel Wood) living in a remote area of the Pacific Northwest. They live a peaceful life, living off the land and enjoying the beauty of nature. However, their lives are turned upside down when a massive continent-wide power outage occurs. With no electricity and no running water, the sisters must now face the harsh realities of life in a post-apocalyptic world.
With the help of their father (Callum Keith Rennie), the sisters try to survive the harsh conditions by foraging for food, gathering firewood, and rationing their supplies. As the days pass, they slowly begin to realize the enormity of the situation and the fact that help may never come.
The sisters must also face the dangers of the forest, as well as the threat of other survivors. Despite the dangers, they continue to survive and grow closer as they learn to rely on each other.
