Synopsis – What to Expect from “Internal Affairs”
Internal Affairs is a 1990 crime thriller directed by Mike Figgis and starring Richard Gere, Andy Garcia, and Laurie Metcalf. The film follows Ray Avila (Gere), an Internal Affairs investigator for the Los Angeles Police Department. Ray is tasked with uncovering police corruption within the ranks of the LAPD, but his investigation takes a personal turn when he discovers that his partner, Amy Wallace (Metcalf), is involved in the corruption.
Ray begins to investigate the corruption, which leads him to confront a powerful criminal organization led by Lt. Lou Brown (Garcia). Brown is a former cop who is now using his knowledge of the police department to manipulate and exploit the system. Ray soon discovers that Brown has been using the police department to launder money and has been using his influence to protect his criminal activities.
Ray’s investigation leads him to a confrontation with Brown, and he soon discovers that Brown is connected to Amy. Ray is forced to choose between his loyalty to the police force and his loyalty to Amy, and he eventually decides to take down Brown and his criminal organization.
The film culminates in a violent confrontation between Ray and Brown, and Ray ultimately prevails, bringing an end to the corruption and restoring justice to the LAPD. Internal Affairs is a thrilling crime drama that explores the dark side of police corruption and the personal struggles of a man trying to do the right thing.
