Synopsis – What to Expect from “Inspector Gadget”
Inspector Gadget is a 1999 American science fiction comedy film based on the 1983 animated television series of the same name. The film stars Matthew Broderick as the titular character, a bumbling detective who is given a high-tech upgrade to fight the evil Dr. Claw.
The movie opens with a flashback to the early days of Inspector Gadget, when he was a clumsy but well-meaning security guard at the local mall. He is soon fired from his job and replaced with a robotic security guard. Feeling dejected, Gadget returns home to his niece Penny and her dog Brain.
Meanwhile, the evil Dr. Claw has been plotting to take over the world with his diabolical inventions. He has recruited his nephew, a brilliant scientist named Sanford Scolex, to help him. Scolex has invented a powerful robotic claw that he has named MAD CAT.
With the help of MAD CAT, Dr. Claw is able to steal valuable information from the local police department. Inspector Gadget is called in to investigate, and he is soon outfitted with a variety of high-tech gadgets to help him in his mission.
Gadget soon discovers that Dr. Claw’s plans involve a giant laser that he intends to use to take over the world. With the help of Penny and Brain, Gadget is able to thwart Dr. Claw’s plans and save the day. In the end, Gadget is recognized for his heroics and is given a promotion to
