Synopsis/Plot
Innerspace is a 1987 science fiction comedy film directed by Joe Dante, starring Dennis Quaid, Martin Short, Meg Ryan, and Kevin McCarthy. The story follows Jack Putter (Quaid), a young pilot who is accidentally miniaturized in a secret military experiment and injected into the body of a hypochondriac store clerk, Miles Bennell (Short). Together, the two must use their newfound powers to survive the dangerous world of Inner Space while fighting off a sinister plot by the military to control the technology.
The film opens with a secret government experiment to miniaturize a test pilot and inject him into a rabbit. However, the experiment goes wrong and the pilot is injected into a human instead, Jack Putter. Jack finds himself miniaturized inside the body of Miles Bennell, a hypochondriac store clerk. Jack and Miles must work together to stay alive and find a way to return Jack to his normal size.
The two soon find themselves on the run from a sinister government agent, Colonel Dickenson (McCarthy), who is determined to control the miniaturization technology. As they try to evade the military, Jack and Miles discover that the experiment has given them incredible powers,
